Setting The Scene

Why I Created the Course.

My passion and motivation to launch Change Talk Coaching come from my lived experience with trauma. I experienced ongoing mental abuse, being built up and torn down within my narcissistic family of origin. Suffering several episodes of sexual abuse in my childhood by people I knew and relied on.

Motivated by My Lived Experiences

After one particularly traumatic encounter, I stopped eating and developed bulimia, a crude and complicated food disorder. Never allowing me to discuss or disclose the abuse, the family preferred to keep up appearances rather than admit to the toxic shame.

As I got older, I used alcohol to numb my trauma and hid behind a ‘false self’ to escape my pain, creating a path of destruction and self-loathing behaviour. Undoubtedly, my profoundly complex trauma history generated a thirst for knowledge.

Working with my coach/therapist, I pushed through a spectacular personal transformation. Proudly, I will tell you that I’m in love with the woman I am today and know this is my life’s work!

Building Course

I woke up one day and said, “I have to do this. I have to build an online course to help women who suffer in silence”.

I knew I had to find a way to give women like me access to all the techniques I have been taught, studied and practised in my coaching. The stuff that gave me peace.

A platform to learn all the exceptional skills to make such significant changes, all in the safety of their own home.

When I check into a project, especially something with such deep meaning, I have such focus and become utterly one-eyed and dedicated. It took me 13 months to build the course. First, I wrote the content. Then I filmed all the 132 videos (by myself at home). Next, the writing of all self-assessments, going through the mammoth task of editing and bringing it all together. I had friends test it and point out the errors. Then, I hired professional coaches and people in my industry to do a peer review. Then, I spent another 3 months editing the suggested improvements.

I am not ashamed to admit I made many mistakes. Totally underestimated the time it would take to complete this project. In the end, I spent three times as much time and money. But it was all worth it. And then, 12 months into this process, I took on more challenges. I had the idea of transcribing the online course into a book. Wow, that was a lot, but again worth it.

In mid-February, I will launch the course in book format. Converted into a workbook style for women who, for whatever reason, cannot access the online course.

My Mission – Supporting ‘MeToo’

The world has changed; the MeToo Movement has phenomenally pulled back the curtains and revealed what often happens to women behind closed doors. Now is the time to drill down and reach these women who suffer in plain sight.

“There is a systemic issue of drinking and eating irregularities that directly correlates to trauma’s impact on a woman that needs to be addressed.”

My health coaching has evolved into a more specialised field, using a blend of nutrition and psychology modalities focused on motivational change. Helping women understand how food and alcohol play a role in their lives. I see this as an opportunity to play a role in this incredible evolution of women being seen.

My mission is to reach women who need to break a cycle. Women who can’t afford an ongoing therapist or coach. Women who feel fearful, ashamed and unable to talk about their struggles. Women who self-medicate and know this is not right but don’t know how to stop.

I aim to combat the stigma of trauma. Face this head-on and break the silence about how it affects our food and drink choices.

Through this whole process, my goal is to help women transform. To move from feeling out of control and stuck in repetitive self-loathing actions to being empowered, more confident women.

I envision giving women access to an online learning platform and book format. To help them accept who they are today and challenge their status quo. With this specialised education, they can identify their values and make discerning choices for their health and well-being.
